Am I getting old or is music getting worse?

I’m sure generations before me have asked the same question, but damn, I’m just shy of 30 and nowhere near old enough to be saying this sort of shit! There has not been one album that I’ve listened to in the last 2-3 years that I would call memorable.

Sure there are memorable songs, even memorable half albums but it has been a long time since I heard an album that I could listen to from start to finish without getting bored.

I look back on the days of albums such as Ready to Die, Illmatic, Enter the Wu, The Infamous, 93 til Infinity, Dah Shinin’, Labcabincalifornia and Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik and wonder what happened to music. On a separate note, I just realised that all of those albums were released around 1993-1995!

Back on topic…Perhaps this is the generation that kills hiphop?

I don’t know what the answer is. The following video is not the answer but I quite like the song. Let’s hope the kid can release an album that is as solid as the ones listed above.
