This pretty much sums up my life:
Perhaps its my age showing but it’s rare for me to see hip hop that can evoke the same feelings that it used to. To me, the majority of artists over the last 10 years have regurgitated the same rubbish over and over again. My hip hop was one of struggle, of triumph over adversity and individuality.
This video not only affirmed my belief on hip hop but gave me inspiration and motivation to do more with my vision of hip hop. This, to me, is exactly what hip hop should be. It’s self expression but at the same time its therapy.
Memorable quotes:
“These fucking people, they look at you. Say excuse me sir, excuse me maam, try to show them respect, 70 percent of them ignore you like you don’t fucking exist unless it’s dark of course and you walking behind them … then all of a sudden, they know you’re there”
“Hip hop is all fucked up right now. I don’t know what the hell happened. Niggas changed the game, 50 fucked the game up with all that dumb shit he be talking. Changing weathers, flying and all kinds of fucking air force one jets. Nobody want to hear that shit. I can’t relate to that.”
“Hip hop is what I feel, man. What I do. Who I am. And that’s my personal therapy.”
I’m a bit slow to get onto this but having just watched this video, I can say that I am now a fan of Serius Jones. Check it out, it’s worth every minute.
Kanye makes up for his pitiful latest album with this killer shoe collab with Louis Vuitton.
This is the first of six shoes in an upcoming collection from Mr. West for Louis Vuitton. It takes a classic boat shoe design and adds a few nice touches. This nearly makes up for 808s and Heartbreak.

Learnt about this kid from MR44′s blog. The dude can really spit.
Check out his myspace for more videos and music. Show some support for an Asian MC that can really spit. Act like you know.
I always thought they were a poor man’s Chaka Demus and Pliers but with names like Mr. Notch and Edley Shine, you gotta love them.
For some reason I really like the way this video clip was filmed. I might just be imagining this but right at the start just as the vocals begin, it sounds like someone is pulling a bong in the background. Listen close…
I realised today that it is nearly the end of another year and every year since 2002, one music’s highlights for me is the Rap Up by Skillz. There is no better way to lament your lack of direction and accomplishments over the last 365 or so days than to look back with Skillz and laugh about the stupid shit that celebrities have done in that same period of time.
Being the last week of December 2008, I searched the interwebz for the latest Rap Up but couldn’t find one. In it’s absence, here is the 2007 Rap Up…
What do you think of the new Kanye album, 808s and Heartbreak?
I personally thought that this kid has been hanging around Europe too much and listening to Daft Punk and wearing pants too tight for him. Or perhaps he just broke up with Nigo.
In any case, I thought this dude just fucked up his career. I wondered who or what mad him go so Eurotrash gay on everyone then in my travels of the interwebz, I find this and it all makes sense. You see, Kanye is too rich now to write his own rhymes, so he employed someone to do it for him.
Meet Kanye’s ghost writer for the 808s and Heartbreak album. This dude is like the lovechild of Stevie Wonder, Albert Einstein and John Cand. In other words, he’s a fucking musical genius. Act like you know…
