Ralph Lauren “Create Your Own” Polo

Taking a cue from the likes of Nike ID comes Ralph Lauren’s own version of custom. The ability to customize your polo with flags, logo colors and various design options will be available at selected Japanese RL stores. This is a great idea and shows forward thinking. My prediction for 2009 is a rise in concepts such as this for more brands.

Nike Sportswear SS09 Sportsman Hoodies & Pants

Nike Sportswear are coming out with some of best designed pieces I’ve seen from anyone in a long time. The latest drop are the Sportsman hoodie and Sportsman pants. The hoodie is a light fleece and both hoodie and pants come with some great colorways. Form plus function equals a yes in my book.

Crooks & Castles Spring 2009 Lookbook

For Spring 2009, Crooks & Castles releases a more clean and sophisticated collection. It’s been great watching this brand’s evolution from the original simple logo to its many variations and now to this collection.

The usual logos are back albeit in more subtle guises. There also seems to be a slight nautical theme to some of the pieces. I would say that this is a great evolutionary step in the Crooks & Castles brand.

Some of my favourite pieces from the collection:

There are some nice details on this jacket. I like the collar and print.

UnRivaled El Power Hoodie

I’m not really familiar with this brand but from the looks of the El Power hoodie, they’re one to watch in the future. The hoodie is constructed of a fleece materials. The panels add a nice touch whil the red cuffs on the grey version is just enough pop to make it stand out.

Original Fake x Neighborhood

Original Fake and Neighborhood are collaborating on a 2009 Spring/Summer collection. The designs seems to follow the general style of Neighborhood. Release date is unconfirmed at this point in time.

My favorites are the plaid shirt and the blue bandanna with the signature OF style teeth in the circle.

Kilo Goods Spring 2009 Collection Preview

Kilo Goods have been putting it down for a hot minute and their Spring 2009 collection continues with some clean well thought out designs. It draws inspiration from the Manhattan skyline and features a palette consisting of primary colors.

This is good design teamed up with great detailing and intelligent use of color. One of the more solid releases I’ve seen for 2009 so far. Act like you know.

Honeyee Secret Store

Exclusivity costs money … it may also cost you your sanity if you’re outside Japan and want to buy from the Honeyee store. They have made it even harder to get certain items now by opening up their members only secret store. The store closes January 30.

If anyone can hook me up with the plaid shirt, the black jacket and/or the letterman jacket, hit me up.

Calee Spring 2009

I was only recently made aware of this Japanese brand. Their designs combine workwear inspired pices with simple colors, premium material and nice subtle design details – everything I look for.

Here are a few pics from their Spring 2009 collection:

Undrcrwn Obama Inauguration

As much as I support Barack Obama, his campaign merchandise still reached a saturation point for me just as the polls were coming in. When I saw that Undrcrwn were creating a t-shirt to celebrate his inauguration, I thought not another Obama tee.

Undrcrwn has proven me wrong by executing a great design. In keeping with the basketball theme that dominates their designs, there is a subtle reference to George “Ice Man” Gervin to complement the Abraham Lincoln theme. The back of this t-shirt features Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg address. Act like you know.
